a little goodwill.

I was trudging towards the exit of the camp, as fast as my heavy feet would bring me. Suddenly I heard a car horn at me. I got out of it's way, but the middle aged uncle inside shouted to me "Going out of camp?" I nodded. He signaled for me to hop on. As I thanked him, he told me "Aiya no need la! On the way what." I'd never have expected a total stranger to offer me a lift. Even if the little ride lasted for all of 500m, it really made my day.

sick.

Sometimes I wonder what is going through the minds of (some)people with authority. What is the logic behind asking them for permission to see a doctor of your own choice when you are sick? Should it not be a basic right? Shouldn't they be concerned about the well-being of the sick person, instead of which doctor the patient is seeing? And what's with the aggressive tone of asking, as if implying the sick person is malingering. Sometimes, I get really sick. Of such people.

one day, i suddenly woke up and realised i was late for school.

The thing I miss the most from the past 13 years of my life in school, is the word "absent" without the "WOL" behind. The word "absent" is ironically(and painfully) absent from my current organisation.

blunt arrowheads.

There goes a saying, "If you have nothing good to say, don't say anything." It is one of the most underappreciated sayings, because people just let it pass, without ever paying attention to what it's screaming out. It's so blatant, people totally miss the point. Sometimes though, they don't just miss it. They go a full 180 degrees from it.

Some find joy in a little meaningless discussion/argument with someone else. After all, it's a good time to bring out a little wit and a little humour into the open, taking little jabs at your oppenent. This "verbal boxing" however, like real boxing, needs a little aptitude to go along with it. Subtlety is required to sharpen your mind. Some people obviously lack it. Some people don't realise they lack it and try to start a round of verbal sparring with an obviously disinterested party, just playing along with him because there was not much of a choice. There's not alot of places to go when you're on the same MRT. By now, you might have realised that disinterested party is me. Listening to Mr Blatant trying to antagonise someone, is akin to being repeatedly stabbed by a blunt knife, or being shot at by a squad of archers with blunt arrowheads. It's really painful. Not his words, but his effort.

Some others prefer the discussion to be one-sided. So instead of verbal sparring, it becomes verbal diarrhoea. Visualise the solid+liquid mixture, smelly, steamy, in word form, spraying its way out of a bodily orifice, more commonly known as the mouth. Now you do not like steamy, smelly, liquid-y shit so I don't suppose it's any more enjoyable in word form.

Now, I have to admit that sometimes I am guilty of antagonising others. However, I do it all in fun and only with more familiar people, afterwhich I do apologise to the guy earnestly(sometimes) and apologise while explaining it was all in fun. It's also done(I believe) in much more entertaining and funny methods. Sometimes, it has everything to do with the sharpness and direction of the arrows. Some people should just give up archery.

regret.

One of my biggest regrets in life is waiting for the army to help me lose weight. As of now, approximately one year after enlistment, my total weight loss stands at -8kg, give and take.

extreme training.

Got my driving practical test date on April 7 and I can't wait to drive. This feeling was further compounded by my ride on the MRT almost everyday at peak hours, where I can't even decide where I want to stand from Yew Tee to Tiong Bahru. It also doesn't help that people think pushing and shoving is the best way to get them seats. It is also the best way to get them dirty looks. I just get caught in the human jam, and my rather large mass is quite awkward to manouvre. I am actually quite fond of the MRT and its convenience. Just not some of its commuters.

rush hour.

Have you ever been caught in such a situation? The bus stop is across the road, you're waiting for the traffic light to change in your favour, but it doesn't. You see your bus arriving but the traffic light remains firmly against you. You check for oncoming traffic and cross the road in a terrible rush to catch your bus. Question is, what are you rushing for? Many times, the answer is nothing.

unforeseen circumstances.

I am currently able to post an entry because I am not in camp. I am not in camp because I woke up late. I am also not in trouble despite not being in camp because I have an off, which I was saving for my driving test. However, because I woke up late, I do not have my off anymore. It was because I took it today. Therefore I would have to take a leave for my driving test. Now, I'll just enjoy my enforced break.
