financial advice.

went to cousins house to gamble. most frown upon gambling as a vice. but lets take a look at the educational side of gambling. lets use the familiar blackjack as the game.

firstly, i started off with NO MONEY. i borrowed say $10 from my cousins thick stack of $2 notes. this is the small scale version of an entrepreneur borrowing from a bank as capital to start a business which in my case, is gambling. but realistically it might be a food business etc.

secondly comes the risk taking. all entrepreneurs have to take risks. in my case, i had 4 cards with a total of 16 points. to open or not to open? as everyone should know, opening 5 cards means you win double or you pay the banker double. if i do not open i will have a slim chance of winning if the banker "bursts". however if i open, the card must be 5 or less. thus a calculated risk is required. ever being the risk taker i took one more card - and it paid off. however this might not always be the case. in another round i has 13 points with 4 cards. i was forced to take 1 more. i opened the last card and it was a 9. lost double. such is the risk-taking activity involved in entrepreneurship. take a risk and either win more or lose more. and sometimes one may not have a choice. which brings me to the topic of luck.

nothing goes as planned. you might know how to take the best risks and have the best business brains. if you are unlucky, all that counts for nuts. at best it will help to reduce losses. such is the importance of luck in the art of gambling and business. an example would be a friend who is really good in risk-taking. he has a pretty good hand. a 8 and a 3 to make 11. to get a 10 would be the highest probability since there are 24 aces, kings, queens, jacks and 10s in total in a deck of 52 cards. but he draws a card. its a 2. he has no choice but to draw again. then comes the 10. tough luck but thats the way it is. don't gamble you might say. but its the same with business. deals may or may not come your way and even if they do might come at the wrong time. in fact business IS a form of gambling. you make profits or losses. in short, pray that lady luck shines on you.

fourthly is the paying off. it is a good practice to pay off debts once you lose instead of owing them to you debtors. owing is a bad habit that leads to the thriving loanshark business. similarly in a business, pay your debts before you become really screwed. if you pay your debts on time, people will help you again. if not, the 20th floor of a hdb flat should be high enough to cause death.

lastly, when you start to make profits, return the loan to the bank. use the profits. like the way i put $10 back to the thick stack of $2 when i won abt $18, leaving $8 for me to continue with the "business". similarly in a business, when you make say $880000, return the $500000 borrowed.

unleash the entrepreneur in you. happy gambling! don't just leave it for chinese new year. good luck! mahjong might or might not be covered in future posts.

chinese new year up till now.

it has been a pretty drab affair. 1st day relatives came, ate luch played mahjong. so me and my cousins were in the room catching up and talking cock and all of a sudden, all of them disappeared other than my cousins and their parents. which i didnt mind the slightest since i didnt really like the others anyway. i am such an antisocial asshole. then went to play soccer like i do every weekend. then i pretty much stoned all the up till 1am where i went for supper and stuffed myself with nasi goreng pattaya and put toothpicks btwn my eyelids to keep them open and hence the previous post. didnt go visiting again cos it was to the hse of the yesterday relatives who came to my house. in fact, the only visiting i did up till now was to yogi's house at 2am to watch the soccer match. hmm maybe i should bet my entire ang pao in a single game of blackjack to spice up my chinese new year.

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR EVERYONE! =)

senseless bullshit.

hmm. i just realised almost every other jc in singapore has half day other than cj. which i would have said sucks. if not for the fact i gave myself half a day off anyway. oh well. i'll say it anyway. it sucks cos brother stalin is a bloody angmoh. please respect chinese traditions. this is not bolshevik russia. anyway the celebrations were pretty nice la. the nicer part was being able to leave at 10. went back to cat high and caught up with old classmates. caught up with the canteen uncles and aunties and tried to bargain to make the relatively cheap food cheaper. unfortunately it was to no avail. anyway i just realised today that jonathan liautrakul went to hospital cos of asthma attack. what a way to spend new year. maybe i should start to be a little nicer. A LITTLE. and while on the way home i realised that my ezlink had become adult fare. but oh well. just go and update. i just realised how much i missed my 5 year routine. going home from bishan. i think it has become so much of a habit it feels oddly nostalgic to be going home the same way after abt 2 to 3 mths of not doing so. cos i know i wouldnt be able to do it as often. in fact i kinda miss sec sch life. haha. maybe not the teachers la but most of it was actually pretty okay. shucks. im rambling on abt nothing in particular. shall go sort out my thoughts now and spare everyone the agony of reading a bunch of unsorted out thoughts.

anyway HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR to everyone. good luck in collecting money. if you get alot please spare a thought (and a few dollars) for poor ppl out there who get less. like me.

Civil War

i like this song. it's pretty meaningful. and it sounds good.

Civil War - Guns N Roses

What we've got here is failure to communicate.
Some men you just can't reach...
So, you get what we had here last week,
Which is the way he wants it !
Well, he gets it !
N' I don't like it any more than you men.
Look at your young men fighting
Look at your women crying
Look at your young men dying
The way they've always done before

Look at the hate we're breeding
Look at the fear we're feeding
Look at the lives we're leading
The way we've always done before

My hands are tied
The billions shift from side to side
And the wars go on with brainwashed pride
For the love of God and our human rights
And all these things are swept aside
By bloody hands time can't deny
And are washed away by your genocide
And history hides the lies of our civil wars

D'you wear a black armband
When they shot the man
Who said "Peace could last forever"
And in my first memories
They shot Kennedy
I went numb when I learned to see
So I never fell for Vietnam
We got the wall of D.C. to remind us all
That you can't trust freedom
When it's not in your hands
When everybody's fightin'
For their promised land

And
I don't need your civil war
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor
Your power hungry sellin' soldiers
In a human grocery store
Ain't that fresh
I don't need your civil war

Look at the shoes your filling
Look at the blood we're spilling
Look at the world we're killing
The way we've always done before
Look in the doubt we've wallowed
Look at the leaders we've followed
Look at the lies we've swallowed
And I don't want to hear no more

My hands are tied
For all I've seen has changed my mind
But still the wars go on as the years go by
With no love of God or human rights
'Cause all these dreams are swept aside
By bloody hands of the hypnotized
Who carry the cross of homicide
And history bears the scars of our civil wars

We practice selective annihilation
Of mayors and government officials
For example to create a vacuum
Then we fill that vacuum
As popular war advances
Peace is closer

I don't need your civil war
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor
Your power hungry sellin' soldiers
In a human grocery store
Ain't that fresh
And I don't need your civil war
I don't need your civil war
I don't need your civil war
Your power hungry sellin' soldiers
In a human grocery store
Ain't that fresh
I don't need your civil war
I don't need one more war

I don't need one more war
What's so civil 'bout war anyway

AND AFTER THE LARGE CHUNK OF SONG LYRICS.
i have pretty nothing much to say. its a pretty meaningless post unless
you like reading song lyrics or actually have the song to enjoy it. but if you
see me online you can ask me for it. AND hard rock is not noise. but thats
for another post.

liverpool vs man u and random shit.

hmm. liverpool vs man united. i had been looking forward to this match all week and now i don't want to remember it again. it was a day all liverpool fans would like to forget. i guess. and they would probably feel more than a bit hard done. the whole match was by far dominated by liverpool but there was no breakthrough. and in the 91st minute rio ferdinand pops up with a 10m pound goal to seal the game. well. think of another scenario. rewind to 27th of may 2005. champions league final. u are an ac milan fan and your team are leading 3-0 at half time after totally dominating the 1st half. suddenly a 10 minute lapse of concentration and the score is suddenly 3-3. and your team loses on penalties. i am pretty sure you will feel equally hard done, probably even more so due to the fixture. but why the endless rambling over 2 soccer matches? i feel that life is sometimes like that. you are in full control of the situation. or so you believe. you have a lapse in concentration and suddenly everything isn't the way you planned it to be. what do you do? break down? or will you try to find out the problem and solve it? back to may 27. the liverpool team at half time were probably feeling like the lowest point of the career. the biggest stage of club football and they are down 3-0 at half time. but they dug deep and fought. and emerged victorious. it wasnt easy but it can be done. just like life. wow. pretty nonsensical philosophical shit. i just got it out of my whichever bodily crevice. oh well. its a pretty huge chunk of words and hard to digest. and u will know nuts of what im talking about unless you happen to watch football as well. so yea. you might as well haven't read it.

wow.

i added a tagboard againtst my principles of the bare minimum. beacuse my new best friend in cjc kenneth fang suggested it adds interactivity to the blog. which can be either good or bad. cos theres the normal people who come on and say hi and chat and catch up with you. and then theres the anonymous flamers who say shit about you. had some experience with that on the band blog. it obviously doesnt feel good but thats the way it is. interactivity is a double edged sword. haha. anyway im still hoping for the donation of money to buy my bass. you can leave ur message on the tagboard now. haha.

religion?

religion.

is it faith or emotional support for the weak-minded?

is it faith or mindless conformity?

is it faith or an avenue for people to fit in and feel they belong?

is there really a god? if so how many? which religion is real?

all religions believe they are the real deal. who to believe?

is there really heaven above us or just boundless sky?

so many questions. so little answers.

no offence meant to religious people.

but i wonder.
